The American Bar Association is holding its 2006 Midyear Meeting in Chicago from Feb. 9-13. More than 3,000 people are registered for more than 750 meetings and events taking place in the meeting's headquarters, the Hyatt Regency Chicago, as well as other hotels, restaurants, museums and law firms.
The Midyear Meeting will feature an array of programs on such pressing legal issues as racial and ethnic equity for Hurricane Katrina victims; health care for prisoners and federal gun laws. On Monday, Feb. 13, the ABA House of Delegates will debate law and public policy issues including legal representation for refugees and asylum seekers, rights for gay and lesbian foster parents, and the Freedom of Information Act.
