Legal Services Corporation Advocacy Monday, October 6, 2008

Since 1974, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) has helped to provide access to justice for those too poor to afford a lawyer. LSC-funded lawyers have helped prevent homelessness, protect domestic violence victims, and avert financial disaster for low-income families.

But today, the lack of adequate funding for LSC continues to threaten the ability of non-profits grantees around the country, which provide basic legal help to those who need it most.

The American Bar Association is a strong advocate for restoring and increasing funding for LSC.

Here are the facts behind LSC’s funding history and the impact on Americans.
